Nigerian Academy of Medicine Elects New Fellows

The Nigerian Academy of Medicine (NAM) on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 announced the election of new fellows.

Speaking in Lagos, Secretary of the academy, Prof. Oluwole Atoyebi, said “the body had on Thursday, July 1, 2021 placed vacancy announcements in several media outlets calling for applications from interested academics that are registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

He noted that even when many qualified scholars applied for the 2020 and 2021 ‘Fellowship’, there were limits to the number that will be accommodated in line with the association’s Memorandum of Association (MoU).

“Being a merit-based organisation, the academy had applied stringent criteria for the various specialties and eventually elected 39 academics that met the application deadline”.  

Congratulating the new Fellows, Prof Atoyebi who also is a surgeon,advised them to complete the registration exercise before November 30, 2021, whilst any inquiries arising there from be directed to him @ info.named.org.ng.

It will be recalled that NAM is a body registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an independent, dynamic and innovative national resource of excellence and expertise in medical sciences and healthcare,
