Gombe: As Governor Inuwa Yahaya Spreads Good News

The Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has not discriminated in spreading the good news to all corners of the society no matter the religious inclinations.
Provided the good news would be beneficial to the people in furthering their beliefs in God, bring peace and development and cement existing peaceful co-existence among people of different tribes, cultures, religions and political affiliations.
Recently, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau  hosted officials of Redeemed Christian Church of God from Lagos in Gombe.
The Governor who spoke through his deputy appreciated their role of prayers for nation’s peace, stability and sustenance and urged the religious leaders to always pray for peaceful co-existence and harmony amongst the adherent of faith.
  The Governor said the  Assistant General Overseer, in charge of Administration and Personnel, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos who came to Gombe was a sign of good relationship between his administration and the various religious leaders in the country. 

 Mr. Jatau noted with appreciation that except for prayers and teachings of the faithfuls,Nigeria would have degenerated into anarchy and state of lawlessness.  He said the administration has provided a platform for religious freedom and harmony, and assisting Christians in Gombe State through the CAN Centre and a guest house, adding that the Minister of communications and Digital Economy has equipped the centre with ICT gadgets for the youths to be trained as Information technologists.
 The Deputy Governor urged the church to assist in tackling youth restiveness, pointing out that youths have taken a dangerous part of laziness and forsaken the doctrine of ” no work, no food”.
  He appreciated the visit, and commended Daddy Adeboye for playing a vital role of bridge building, peace ambassador and unity, thereafter conveying the goodwill message of  Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya while wishing them a successful programme in the state capital.
 

Speaking,  leader of the delegation and Assistant General Overseer, in charge of Administration and Personnel, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Odesola Johnson, said they were in the state for a crusade programme organized under the leadership of Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye.
   He said, every generation must never stop to pray, as the principle of God is a principle of life and it works in every generation through prayer.
   He stressed that prayer can never be overemphasized in peoples relationship with God and with one another.
It would be recalled that the  Assistant General Overseer who came in company of other church officials appreciated the role of the church in praying for the peace, stability and sustenance of the country.
In another development, the Gombe Deputy Governor has attended  centenary celebration of Christianity in Lamurde Area of Adamawa State where he  commended them for keeping the gospel light burning.
The Deputy Governor who was special guest of honour at the ceremony,commended christians in the area for sustaining the gospel light and not allowing the sacrifices of pioneer missionaries and converts to be in vain.
 He emphasized that christianity brought about salvation to the lost sheep and was a way of life different from those living in darkness,even as he lamented that there is a shift back to immorality and  social vices, including drugs addiction, insecurity challenges, crimes and criminality in the society now than ever before. 
  Dr. Daniel Jatau said, the society required more prayers, going by increased retrogression in morals, found even among christians and entire citizens of  the state.
  He added that aside from decrease in morals, the church needs to emphasise unity amongst for cohesion and expansion of the gospel to reach everyone.
  The Deputy who conveyed the goodwill of the government ,called on the people to actively participate in politics and electoral processes to enable them determine their choices of leaders.
  Chairman of the occasion, saluted the courage and sacrifices of pioneer missionaries for living their comfort and risking themselves to come to Africa with a view to leading them into the light of the gospel in line with God’s injunction.   

He appreciated the organizers, the Royal Fathers, the Deputy Governor and all those who honoured the invitation.
  The Guest Speaker, Prof A.A.Voh of National Animal Production Research Institute, Ahmadu Bello University Shika, Zaria, spoke on the topic, “The impact of the gospel: The Lamurde story”.
 Where the he quoted from  Mark Chapter 16;15-16, and explained to them that the pioneer missionaries answered the call of God in line with the great commissions which says “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”.    

He said that it was the sacrifices of the missionaries that opened up Lamurde and environs to the gospel of Jesus Christ, thereby bringing lots of positive developments, including renouncing evil traditional worship, provision of education, health facilities, agricultural development, human capital development, artisanship and socio-economic progress.
  Also, the Archbishop of the Gongola Diocese, Rev. Barthimaeus Peter, explained that the event was to mark the celebration of 100 years of God’s faithfulness for the gospel of Jesus Christ in Lamurde.
  He said, though the workers whom God used in bringing the gospel to the land have transitted to heaven awaiting for their crowns of glory, the celebration is to remember their labour and to redouble efforts in sustaining their legacies.
