At last,Senator Rochas Okorocha has declared to run for the presidency in 2023 on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Okorocha made this known in a letter addressed to the Senate President which was read by Ahmad Lawan at plenary. The former governor of Imo state disclosed that he will address a world press conference on January 31st, 2022 to officially declare his ambition to contest the presidency.
Chairman of the organising Committee, Prof. Aliyu Abdullahi Jibia, maintained that Okorocha is the best man for the job with his intimidating credentials. Meanwhile, Okorocha Rochas Okorocha has suggested elements described as ‘unknown gunmen’ are police operatives from Government House, Owerri. Okorocha, a former governor of Imo state, made the allegation while speaking commenting on the arrest of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu. Nwosu, a former governorship candidate in the state, is a former chief of staff to Okorocha and his son-in-law. He alleged that Governor Uzodimma deceived the inspector general of police, Usman Baba, to arrest Nwosu.
