Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court Nominee Confirmation Hearings

The confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson got underway Monday on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee delivering opening statements.

If confirmed, Jackson would be the first Black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court. The 51-year-old judge was confirmed to her current post on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia by the Senate in a bipartisan vote last summer. But some Republicans, perhaps those with eyes on the White House, have sharpened their attacks in recent days.
