Meet Eze Ndi-Igbo Of Ijegun/Ijedodo,Lagos, HRH,Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi

March 3, 2022 will ever mark a watershed in the history of Ijegunland, Lagos State. It was the day that Ndi-Igbo in Ijegun and beyond turned out in their numbers to crown His Royal Highness, Eze Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi as Eze Ndi-Igbo of Ijegun/Ijeododo Kingdom.  The saying that ‘Who the cap fits let him wear it’ cannot be more apt and fitting for Eze Dr. Nwokedi.

His choice and general acceptance as Eze by Ndi-Igbo in Ijegun/Ijeododo never came by sudden flight. Rather, they were as result of hard work, dedication to duty and more so recourse to unreserved philanthropy in aid of those in need.

Speaking to journalists in his palace Eze Nwokedi said; “I was the youngest president that ever-ruled Ladipo, the biggest motor spare parts market in West Africa. I was the President General of the market at the age of 25.  “I won’t deny that my life had several ups and down neither was I born with silver spoon. I have slept in shops during my stay, I have known poverty and that is why I’m personally desirous of assisting indigent people especially the Igbo in Lagos State.”

 “I have intervened in a lot of things, done empowerment and even bought and donated lands to Igbo people here to build houses. My calling is to ensure that the welfare of the Igbo is well taken care of.  I am someone who strongly believes in doing the right thing and coming to you with a clean hand. I hate injustice with passion, even as I love assisting people”, he said.

I am an ardent believer in God with an aversion for fetish and idol worship. Definitely, I don’t intent to indulge in anything contrary to Christian worship and belief.” Indeed no one would deny that the coronation came at a time the Igbo community needed someone with such unalloyed loyalty and commitment to pilot their affairs in the communities.

On what he wants to remember after his reign and sojourn on earth, Eze Nwokedi said; “I am a man that strongly believes in doing the right thing and coming to you with a clean hand. I want to be remembered as a king that assisted the Igbo in Ijegunland and made sure that all is well with them. I want to be remembered as a King that intervened in the lives of his subjects. I always ensure that I am a blessing to others, a giver and not a taker.” What a befitting and enduring epitaph indeed.
